Final: Sweden - Czech Republic 6-4
Sweden for the fifth time Floorball World Champion with hard-won victory
The victory of the Tre Kronor Team initially never seemed in danger. The foundation to success was laid in the first period, when the Swedes already had a three point lead.
Actually nobody doubted the repeated World Championship title for Sweden. The dominance of that nation was clear. Only one minute played and the superstar Niklas Jihde already had a great chance. He narrowly missed his target. The Swedes created a lot of pressure and constricted the Czechs. The logical conclusion was the lead for Goliath already in the second minute. Olofsson passed the ball to Calebsson, who didn't put Chzech goalkeeper in a good light. The Czechs had troubles continue building up their game, because the Swedes played more offensive than in their preliminary game against the Czech Republic.
Finally in the 7th minute the Czechs got their first chance, otherwise they were clearly physically and technically inferior. Sweden controlled the game and the Czech Republic tried to keep the goal difference from increasing. After the first period they occasionaly were able to take hold of the Swedish zone as well and fired one or the other shot on the so far hardly tested Swedish goalkeeper Olofsson. Pavel Kozusnik had the best possibility, but he hit the outer net. Immediately in the next attack Svensson demonstrated his individual class and in a solo run he put three opposing players to work. The second score occured when defender Quist managed to pass the ball in slot play to Lindström, who only had to shove it across the line from there. At this point Sweden had powerplay and before break Hellgard, with an assist by Jihde, shot to the score of 3:0. The preliminary decision seemed a done deal...
After only 35 seconds in the 2nd period, Pavel Kozusnik shot the first goal for his team. At least they had achieved their honour shot. Sweden weren't put off and continued to play combination. It only lasted 3 minutes before the Swedes increased their lead again. After a foul by Hanzlik on Jihde, everything happened very fast: With two assists by Jihde and Hellgard, Quist shot another goal. The Czechs sporadically showed up in front of the Swedish goalkeeper Olofsson, Cepek (7th) and Zalesny (9th) forced him to give a good performance. In the 10th minute Pavel Kozusnik sat on the penalty bench. After less than a minute Kokocha's boys outwitted the Czech defense with clear passes and achieved 5:1. Goalkeeper was Larsson, player with Malans. The response by the Czech team came 5 minutes later: Appearing out of nowhere Ostransky shot the second score for the Czechs.
Suspense returned in the last period, which lacked for the most part in the first periods. By stealing the ball, the fighter Zalesny was able to pass it to Ostransky who scored again for the Czechs and the game was arranged more openly again. As a result the Czechs played more courageously and cheekier. For the first time the Swedes started to stagger. Cepek and the two Kozusniks failed because Olofsson held his own. This pressure phase was stopped however by a penalty and again it was Quist who scored in powerplay to 6:3. Five minutes before finish coach Skruzny took a timeout. From then on the Czech team played without a goalkeeper. They were able to build up pressure with six against four players. This effort was rewarded by Jandacek two minutes before the end of the game to a score of 6:4. The Czech goalkeeper stayed out of the field and despite good and dangerous shots on the Czech goal, the final score remained 6:4 in Sweden's favour.
